Each year, thousands of Canadians undergo joint replacement surgery, mainly because their joints have been damaged by arthritis.
This web site is meant to guide and support you and your family as you move through the joint replacement experience - starting from the pre-operative visit through the surgery itself and finally to recovery and rehabilitation.
The site was created for people in the Canada who will be having knee or hip replacement surgery sometime in the near future. But even if you don't live here or if you have already had your surgery, you'll still find lots of useful information and advice.
- Look for our helpful videos, photos and handy checklists.
- Take advantage of our Message Boards where you can share tips and support with other patients and family members.
How are you feeling now that your surgery has been scheduled? You're probably looking forward to less pain and to becoming more active. But it's also normal to feel a bit anxious about what is going to happen to you before and after your operation.

myJointReplacement.ca gives patients and their families general information about what to expect before and after knee and hip replacement surgery. Your own experiences may not be exactly the same because practices are not the same in every hospital and rehabilitation program. The information here is NOT meant to replace advice from your physician or therapist. If you have any questions or concerns, always speak to your doctor or another member of your Care Team.
